How Incident Automation Inc. collects, uses and shares the information you give it.

Who we are

Incident Automation Inc. ("Incident Automation", "we") makes software that wildland fire incident management teams use to run an incident: check-in, rosters, medical planning, messaging and resource tracking. Questions about this policy go to contact@incidentautomation.org.

What we collect

Only what you or your incident give us:

  • What you enter when you check in to an incident: your name, email, mobile number and carrier, employer or agency, resource order and position, lodging, and, if you provide them, your medical credentials, medical direction and contacts.
  • The texts you send to our phone number and the messages posted in an incident group we are connected to, including any location in them.
  • Your location, only if you set up location sharing on your phone or carry a tracker an incident checks out to you.
  • Your consent to receive our text messages: the mobile number, when you agreed, the words you were shown, and where you agreed.
  • If you sign in, your email address and the records of your sign-ins.

How we use it

To run the incident you are assigned to: to place you on its roster and its map, to send you the onboarding links and the text messages you agreed to, to alert you to an IWI (an incident within an incident) if you join that list, to produce the incident's documents, and to keep the service secure and working.

Who sees it

The incident's managers and staff, each according to their role on the incident. People the incident gives its map password or an IWI link, who see the incident map with its resources' names and positions. Systems the incident connects through a tracking feed, which receive its resources' positions. Service providers that operate the service on our behalf: Google Cloud hosts and stores it, Twilio carries our text messages, and GroupMe carries an incident's group messages when the incident uses it.

We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not sell personal information.

Text messages

We text you only if you agreed to receive our texts. How the program works, how often we text, and how to stop are in our Terms. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help.

Keeping it safe, and your choices

The service is reached over HTTPS. Reading an incident's records requires signing in, limited by your role, or a credential the incident issues, such as its map password. To ask what we hold about you, or to ask us to correct or delete it, email contact@incidentautomation.org.
